This month, Tacel is featuring the FLIR TrafiSense Dual AI, a premium dual sensor solution that monitors an intersection thermally and visually at the same time. Recently deployed by our field team at the base of the CN Tower in downtown Toronto.

Total Intersection Visibility. Day, Night, and Everything In Between.

This month Tacel is featuring the FLIR TrafiSense Dual AI, a premium dual sensor detection solution that monitors an intersection both thermally and visually at the exact same time.

Most detection cameras ask agencies to choose. Thermal gives you reliable detection in darkness, glare, and heavy weather. High resolution visual gives you rich classification detail and clear video. TrafiSense Dual AI delivers both from one unit, with edge based AI deep learning processing the data on the device.

The result is highly reliable classification of every road user at the intersection. Vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists are detected and tracked whether the camera is facing extreme glare, heavy rain, snow, or absolute darkness. The detection never drops.

For agencies working toward Vision Zero and multimodal safety goals, the analytics matter as much as the detection. TrafiSense Dual AI provides patented 3D tracking, turning movement counts, queue occupancy, wrong way driver alerts, and detailed traffic reports with heatmaps that support signal timing reviews and long term planning.

Deployed in Downtown Toronto

Our field team recently completed an upgrade at Bremner Boulevard and Lower Simcoe Street, at the base of the CN Tower. It is the convergence point for Scotiabank Arena, Ripley's Aquarium, and the Rogers Centre, which means managing massive surges of pedestrians alongside vehicle traffic.

Two legacy FLIR TrafiCam units were replaced with TrafiSense Dual AI cameras, giving the City of Toronto both thermal and visual coverage at one of the busiest multimodal intersections in the country.

Key Features

  • Dual sensor design combining thermal imaging and 4K visual in a single unit
  • Edge based AI deep learning for on device classification and tracking
  • Patented 3D tracking of position, speed, and direction
  • Detection of vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists including vulnerable road users
  • 640 x 512 thermal resolution with 8 MP 4K visual sensor
  • Wrong way driver detection and queue occupancy monitoring
  • Turning movement counts, heatmaps, and detailed traffic reporting
  • Estimated time of arrival and Position Speed Heading data through optional API
  • Operating range of 40 below to 74 degrees Celsius for Canadian conditions
  • NEMA TS2 compliant detection zones with standard Pelco bracket mounting
  • Integration with the Acyclica traffic management platform

Ready to See the Full Picture?

TrafiSense Dual AI brings thermal reliability, 4K visual detail, and embedded AI analytics together in one sensor, giving Canadian agencies dependable detection and the empirical data needed to make proactive decisions.
