We’re proud to share exciting news that reflects what Tacel is all about: advancing safety, driving innovation and supporting communities through technology.

Together with Applied Information in partnership with the City of Burlington and Burlington Transit, Tacel has completed the first three of four key phases of Burlington’s Transit Signal Priority (TSP) Project. This marks a major step toward a more connected reliable and efficient public transit system.

Using Connected Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) technology, Burlington Transit buses can now communicate directly with traffic signals and a centralized cloud management system. When a bus falls behind schedule it can receive optimized green lights at intersections to reduce delays improve reliability and enhance the passenger experience across the city.

This project launched under RFP-22-225 showcases how connected infrastructure is transforming the way cities move. Burlington is also using this same connected vehicle technology to integrate emergency services, improving response times and safety for everyone on the road.

This collaboration highlights how innovation and partnership can create real change in our cities. By combining Tacel’s decades of experience in traffic systems with connected technology, Burlington is setting a new standard for intelligent transit solutions across Canada.

Tacel remains committed to helping municipalities like Burlington build safer smarter and more efficient streets. Through partnerships like this one with Applied Information we’re helping Canadian communities embrace the future of mobility one connected intersection at a time.

Powering the next generation of connected transit.
