We are excited to share news that reflects what Tacel is about. Advancing safety, driving innovation, and supporting communities through technology.
Tacel is proud to highlight the City of Regina launch of PedApp in the downtown core in collaboration with CNIB and Polara. This is a major step toward more independent and inclusive crossings for residents and visitors.
PedApp is now live at nine intersections on Victoria Avenue between Broad Street and Albert Street. Residents can use their phones to announce the intersection, place the pedestrian call, and receive real time updates on when it is safe to cross. The app provides a spoken countdown and vibration cues to support people who are blind have low vision or are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
This rollout makes Regina one of the first cities in Canada to bring smartphone activated crossings to the heart of the city. It is backed by strong community partners and local media coverage. A phased expansion is planned as the city evaluates future intersections.
This collaboration shows how innovation and partnership create real change in our cities. By combining Tacel experience in traffic systems with the Polara platform and the leadership of the City of Regina, the project sets a new standard for accessible mobility in Canada. Tacel remains committed to helping municipalities build safer smarter and more efficient streets. Through partnerships like this one we are helping communities embrace the future of mobility one accessible intersection at a time.
Powering the next generation of accessible mobility.
